Types of Divorce Ceremonies
The sole difference between a Divorce
Ceremony and an End of Relationship Ceremony is the fine detail of the
relationship it is acknowledging - whether the you were legally married
or not.
The breakdown of a long-term relationship between partners who were not legally married is equally as painful, and a formal ceremony can be just a healing. Whether you are a straight couple or a gay couple is immaterial.
Where the couple can honour each other and their past relationship a ceremony in which both participate equally is very powerful.
Where one partner cannot bring himself/herself to participate the ceremony can be empowering for the partner who chooses to hold it.
In either case the process of ceremony development and preparation is an opportunity for growth and healing.
